Kelly Gallagher is an experimental animator and filmmaker interested in exploring ways that handmade animations make labor visible. Her theoretical work investigates the radical and feminist possibilities of experimental animation, and the ways animation can visualize stories of resistance. Her films have screened internationally at venues including: Ann Arbor Film Festival, Experiments in Cinema, London ICA Artists’ Biennial, Festival des Cinémas Différents et Expérimentaux de Paris, Alternative Film/Video Festival Belgrade, Anthology Film Archives, and the Irish Film Institute. She is the recipient of the Helen Hill Award from Indie Grits and the Audience Award from Fronteira Film Festival. Her ongoing project, “Everyone Can Animate!” is a perpetually growing collection of free animation resources for children, teens, and anyone interested in learning animation, in an effort to make the art form more accessible to everyone. Kelly currently resides in Ohio where she’s an Assistant Professor of Media Arts at Antioch College.
