Malte Philipp Kaeding

Dr Malte Philipp Kaeding is a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in International Politics at the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom. He is the co-founder of the Hong Kong Studies Association. Malte researches emotions and international relations and is the director/writer/producer of Black Bauhinia 香港本色.

Malte has been a cinephile since his teenage days and an admirer of the Hong Kong cinema of the 1980s and 1990s. He studied Comparative Literature with the late Esther M.K. Cheung and Film Studies with Mette Hjort during an exchange year at the University of Hong Kong and completed the BFI Creative Film Skills Evening Class Programme on documentary film making.
