Angel Linares studied his direction and production studies at the National Film School of the UNAM (CUEC-UNAM). He is a founding partner of the independent production company “Libres Films”. His documentary short films have been screened and selected in festivals such as: Festival of Latin American Cinema of Sao Paulo, the Festival of New Latin American Cinema of Havana, International Festival of Human Rights of Bogotá. His documentary short film, “The Invisible Mountains” was nominated for the Ariel Award, won Best Documentary Short Film of the 11th Morelia International Film Festival, was screened at the Semaine de la Critique of the Cannes Film Festival and at the Festival of Cinema of Sarajevo, obtained the honorable mention of the José Rovirosa Award for Mexican student documentary and honorable mention of the DocsMX Festival. In 2015 he participated in the 10th International Student Film Camp in Pozega, Serbia, where he directed the short film “Hail”, shown at various international festivals. His latest short film “The Sun Under The Feet”, about peasants from Guerrero, integrates the collective feature “La Danza de las Fieras”, which has recently been awarded at several festivals. His documentary debut, “La Misma Sangre”, currently filming, was selected and awarded in several international development labs and workshops and is creditor of the FOPROCINE / IMCINE. As a producer, he has made several short films, including the award-winning short film “Los Murmullos” directed by Gastón Andrade which won the Ingmar Bergman Prize for Best New Director at the 32nd Uppsala International Short Film Festival, Sweden.
